FAQs

What is baby bodywork?
Baby bodywork is a hands-on session with a trained professional aimed at helping your baby’s body relax and get moving optimally. Being born is hard work and some gentle bodywork in the first few weeks can help your newborn get started with easeful digestion, feeding and rest times.

A typical session is 30 minutes long and includes CranioSacral Therapy, abdominal work, massage, light stretching and mouth work. The techniques are extremely gentle and babies often sleep through the session.

“Why would my newborn need a massage?”
After spending 40 weeks in a small space, many babies are born with tension patterns that can impact feeding, digestion and nervous system regulation. Some gentle bodywork in the first weeks can help your baby adjust to life on the outside.

Some typical issues that bring families to me are:

  • Feeding difficulties, tight latch, in efficient feeding and falling asleep during a feed.

  • Gas, reflux and other tummy troubles.

  • Frequent waking or general fussiness.

At what age can a newborn receive this work?
The sooner the better! The majority of babies that I see are between 0-12 weeks old. That being said, I treat individuals of all ages.

When should I not receive a massage?
It is important to fully complete all medical intake forms and update your therapist of any health changes, as these could make massage potentially unsafe. In order to keep you safe if there is any question about a condition or treatment plan a doctor's release may be needed.

What if I need to reschedule my appointment?
I ask for at least 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule all appointments. If changes are made with less than 24 hours notice the client will be charged 50% of the session cost. Illness or emergency are exceptions to this policy.

How can I pay for my session?
I accept exact cash, check, Venmo and Zelle for payments.
